The Daily Service: Its Elements and Meanings - When was the last time we examined the Daily Service we conduct every Wednesday evening? It is time to delve into the form, function, and meaning of the service. Just a note, this is the same service (in Japanese) conducted every morning at 6 AM at Kompon Chudo, the hondo at Enryakuji, Tendai's Head Temple.
Weekly Meditation Service and other events-
Meditation services are held on Wednesday evenings from 6 pm. A Dharma talk and discussion is held in the main house. Then a meditation service is held in the Main Hall, comprising of a Daily Service Program, and two periods of meditation. This is followed by a potluck dinner, ending around 9 pm. It is suggested to attend all portions, but is not necessary.
Tuesday mornings from 9:30-11 a.m. is a Dharma tutorial on Chih-i’s Mo-ho-chih-kuan.
Tuesday evening 7-830 p.m. Tai Chi in the hondo with Michael Roland. $10.
All weekly services are open to the public.
