Prentice Cooper State Forest is a hidden gem located in Marion County Tennessee and encompasses over 24,000 acres of public land.
The forest includes many hiking, 4x4, and equestrian trails as well as camping and public hunting areas. We will be hiking a section of the Cumberland trail which follows the Tennessee River and ends at an overlook called Snoopers Rock. The trail is around 6 miles round trip, but there is driving access to Snoopers Rock if you only want to hike one way. We anticipate approximately 3 hours total for the hike.
Meet us at the Cumberland trailhead on Game Reserve Rd. via highway 27 and Suck Creek Rd, about 2 miles past the public shooting range.
Trail difficulty is easy to moderate, with the return journey having more uphill sections. Join us for one of the best views of the Tennessee River in the area, and a beautiful early spring hike!
