Meet & Greet w/ Chattanooga Hiking Clubs + workshop + day hike

On Saturday February 9, Outdoor Chattanooga will be holding a winter meet & greet. Representatives from a number of Chattanooga based hiking clubs will be participating. Participating clubs include Chattanooga Hiking Club, Chattanooga Trekkers, Tennessee Wild, Cumberland Trail Conference (CTC) & Tennessee Trails Association (TTA).

The meet & greet will take place from 10-11 am. At 11 am Tennessee Wild's Jeff Hunter will lead a talk/discussion entitled "What's in your daypack?" We'll break for lunch from 12-1, and then at 1 pm, we will go for a hike. There will be a number of different hike options led by the various clubs attending the event. Jeff will lead a short hike on the Blue Blazes Trail in Chattanooga. You are welcome to go on any hike that tickles your fancy.

This is a perfect opportunity for beginner hikers, families with children, or anyone who is new to Chattanooga. Come meet, learn & hike!

Great meetup. Jeff presented a What's in Your Backpack talk that had some good information. I missed the hikes (too much to do) but will catch one later.

Sorry I didn't realize you ate on eastern time, I'll be late..

Chattanooga shifted zones a while back. My GPS still thinks it has Central time.

I don't think Chattanooga was ever in anything but Eastern. We are right on the edge.

I would have loved to come today, but I had to administer the ACT test. Hopefully, I will meet some of you soon.

All...I'm sorry to ask this, but I'm really unclear as to where the meeting place is. I have the Google directions but they sound off. Is there a landmark? If I'm driving east on Cherokee Blvd., do I turn right before arriving at the Market Street Bridge?

Jeff...I understand near the Carousel...but is there a restaurant location, the pavillion???? Well, if you see a woman wandering about looking lost, that is ME! LOL!

      February 9, 2013

    • Olga

LOL...I take it...where the pavillion/restrooms are? Thanks for being so kind!

This will be a first time for me...looking forward to it!

Is there an attendance limit? I might share it with the Cherokee Hiking Club. They are looking for hikes to schedule & have nothing planned for that day....

The club talked about a problem lack of participation and someone mentioned a membership drive....

Hey Jeff, Not sure if you aware of a new hiking group called Lookout Hiking Club, founded by John C Wilson and, Garnet Chapin hosts the facebook page. Their group may also be interested in joining this event. I have already committed to another event on this day.
