- Monthly meet & greet
All riders are welcome and encouraged to join us. Ride your motorcycle if you want. Drive your car if that works better for you. The main point is to get together, make new friends, visit with old friends, and talk about dual sport adventure motorcycling. We will meet in the Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant. Let's get together and tell riding stories and enjoy a meal. We are a friendly bunch and all are welcome to join us. There is no cost to attend other than what you spend on eating and drinking. Feel free to come early or stay late.
- Monthly Ride: Kendalia
The Austin TARA (Texas Adventure Riders Association) Chapter sponsors a monthly dual sport adventure ride the first Saturday of every month. All riders are invited to attend. We meet at 8:30 am at the Texaco gas station/convenience store, 18901 Hamilton Pool Road, Dripping Springs, 78620 (intersection of Hwy 12 and Hamilton Pool Rd/3238). Stands up at 9 am. Every month we ride a different route to keep things interesting. The planned routes include both paved and off-pavement riding and are suitable for any street-legal dual sport adventure bike. You can download the route gps files below. There is no designated ride leader for the monthly ride (i.e. no one is in charge). Riders self-organize into small groups and then enjoy a fun day in the Texas hill country. Austin monthly dual sport ride routes: + Jan: Wimberley, 126 miles + Feb: Luckenbach, 182 miles + Mar: Willow City Loop, 174 miles + Mar alternate route: Castell, 189 miles (for those who want to ride a slightly longer route) + April: San Saba, 226 miles + May: Fredericksburg, 229 miles + June: Johnson City, 124 miles + July: Marble Falls, 141 miles + Aug: Spicewood, 132 miles + Sep: Kendalia, 147 miles + Oct: James River, 225 miles + Nov: Pontotoc, 222 miles + Dec: Burnet, 151 miles You can download the route gps files here: http://www.txadvriders.org/austin-monthly-events/ What if the weather is bad? The ride still occurs. There is a chance you may be the only rider to show up, but the ride is never cancelled. This way, no matter what the weather forecast, those riders who want to ride always have a scheduled ride. What if there is an event (such as a rally) scheduled for that same weekend? The first Saturday ride is still on. This way those riders who aren't attending the other ride/rally have a scheduled Saturday ride they can attend. What if someone else is organizing a day ride on Sunday? The Saturday ride is still happening. Any and all other rides are in addition to the monthly Saturday ride, not a replacement for the Saturday ride. The first Saturday ride is never cancelled. It is always on. - Roll the Bones X
** NOT ORGANIZED BY ME, ADV RIDER/TWT EVENT ** I went to the 9th iteration and it was a blast. This one is closer to Austin. "OK...Folks...This is the limited note on whats going on with RTB X. Due to venue issues and trying to achieve decent routes that will appeal to the Adventure horde, I have decided to bring RTB to Ghost Rancho. We have always considered ourselves adventure riders but yet we seek all these creature comforts. This year we go back to basics....Limited water and electric will be available but NO powered RV sites. The plan is to do technical riding on the place and rally riding around the area. Those who have been to my place know what it is, those who have not been, well, it is rocky crag cedar break:rider: We have cut several trails and plan to bring back the Challenge Event! More details and opening of the website for registration will be coming soon. - Hill Country 500
** NOT ORGANIZED BY ME, TARA EVENT ** The Hill Country 500 is a three day, 500 mile(ish) adventure ride of some of the finest paved and dirt roads in the Texas hill country. It begins and ends in Johnson City, TX. Schedule Overview: Friday evening, Nov 8: Social gathering in Johnson City Saturday, Nov 9: Ride Sunday, Nov 10: Ride, ending in Johnson City, TX. Who is this ride for? This ride is a tour of some of the best riding in the hill country and is suitable for any street-legal dual sport or adventure bike. We will be riding public paved and unpaved roads – there is no off-road or single track riding. This ride is beginner friendly. If you are new to Texas adventure riding, come on out. We are a friendly group and welcome newcomers. Riding Options: There are two riding options for you to choose from: Option 1: The Big Loop: two day, 450 mile loop of the hill country with a Saturday night stay at the Best Western in Kerrville, TX Option 2: Out and Back: Two day rides (one on Saturday, the other on Sunday) from Mike’s property. Overnight Saturday night at Mike’s place (if camping) or at a local hotel in Johnson City (if staying in a hotel). Both options are self-guided rides. Riders will organize into small groups (I suggest groups of 8 riders or less) and ride the designated course each day. At the riders meeting at 8 am on Saturday morning we will help riders without a group organize into a group. More info at https://www.twtex.com/forums/threads/hill-country-500-nov-8-10-2019.121202/
