Nicely Done!

Last night's Lone Star NYC Holiday Happy Hour was a small, but successful event, so thanks to all of you who came out! It was a nice mix of long-time NYC residents and newcomers, and as always, it was good to have Texans getting together, mixing, and mingling.

It was agreed that we're going to start moving around among the boroughs for various events going forward, to places like a Mexican restaurant in Downtown Brooklyn, a Greek restaurant in Astoria, or a soul food restaurant in Harlem. Do you have a place that you like, and think would be a great place for an upcoming Lone Star NYC event? If so, then now's a great time to submit your nomination. I've set this e-mail so that replies will come only to me, so your inbox will not fill up with a bunch of correspondence while you're trying to work.

Lastly, I'm going to use this Meetup communique as a platform for a little bit of shameless self-promotion: In addition to my various business interests, I'm also a Blues musician and recording artist, and I've booked my next show at Kenny's Castaways in the West Village. While I don't know that it would be appropriate to try to schedule that as a Lone Star NYC event, per se, it would certainly be a good opportunity for members of this group to get together. The show is on Thursday, January 28th, and I set it for 7:00 p.m. so that folks can come out and catch the set, and still make it home at a reasonable hour on a work night.

For details, just go here. (I perform under my first and middle names, "Tobin James".) If you're on Facebook yourself, and think you might come out, please be sure and RSVP on the invite that's posted there, and pass it on to your friends.

OK, back to work! But please remember to nominate prospective venues for future meetups, and I'll be sure and schedule the next one for sometime early in the 1st Quarter of 2010.

Happy Holidays!
-Jim
