Looking for a fun and social group to help improve your fitness as well as making some new friends?
We are a fun and diverse Dragon Boat team based in London. We paddle at Royal Albert Dock near London City Airport and London Excel Centre, just a short DLR ride from Central London. Everyone is welcome to our paddling family; regardless of age, sexual orientation, gender identity, fitness level, ethnicity, nationality, religion and beliefs.
Dragon Boat Racing has ancient Chinese origins and its history has been traced back more than 2000 years. Today, Dragon Boat racing involves teams of up to twenty paddlers in a 40 foot boat with a drummer and helm, paddling frantically to beat the other teams down the course. The drums, shouting and colourful boats make it an impressive and exciting sport both to watch and to compete in.
Come and join one of our free taster sessions and find out how much fun paddling in time with 19 other people in a massive long boat on the Thames, actually is! We train on Sunday mornings at 10am and often have another training session in the week. Although, we are competitive, we are also a social club and paddlers come as often as they wish. You don't need to be an athlete and we stay on top of the water in the boat, rather than swimming, although we will ask you to wear a life vest (just in case!).
All you need is some active/sportswear, a bottle of water, a positive and friendly attitude and be keen to have fun!
