What we're about
Following the tradition of Gurdjieff, Ouspensky and Collin, The Academy of European Arts and Culture is a global school committed to the process of Awakening the Soul.
Founded by the late Irish Philosopher, Mervyn Brady, the Academy has taught hundreds of people the fundamentals of a deeper understanding of one's interior world. As we study the work of philosophers, artists, mystics, theologians and scientists throughout the centuries, we gain practical tools to live an enriched life.
During our meetings we discuss different topics related to the Awakening process; with a special emphasis on learning how to observe the parts of us that create obstacles to being present. We also study great men and woman throughout history who have left behind the gems of their awakening process in various art forms.
Some examples of the conscious men and women we study are Walt Whitman, Leonardo da Vinci, Hildegard von Bingen, William Shakespeare, Rodney Collin, Buddha, Rumi, Hafez, St. Theresa of Avila, Rainer Maria Rilke, Ralph Waldo Emerson and Lao Tzu.
The main effort in meetings is to achieve a state of inner peace within the Present moment. Academy students come from many traditions, but we all share this common desire.
