Instructor Bio:

Jered Faires
Jered caught his first glimpse of swing at a summer camp in 1998. It looked cool, so he took East Coast lessons in college and saw a demonstration of Lindy Hop in Nashville. It looked cooler, so he took lessons in grad school and saw the Jam Cellar crew in D.C. truly lead&follow. It’s the coolest, so he’s been pursuing Lindy Hop and Charleston ever since. Jered loves the inherent energy, joy, & musicality of swing dance and delights in his students experiencing these elements. He wants his students to grasp the principles of the dance, the big ideas, not just ‘moves,’ and to feel the awesome energy of connection. He specializes in absurd illustrations and corny jokes to explain the details of the dance. Jered has been teaching in Birmingham, AL for the past 4 years and has taught workshops in Memphis, TN & Auburn, AL.
