What we're about
The principle aim of this club is to provide an opportunity for those interested in the visual arts and history to meet and socialise and to visit together destinations of particular artistic and historic interest in the UK and overseas. There will be fairly frequent social events in the London area, for example visits to galleries and museums, on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, as well as occasional socials on weekday evenings. Art and history are, of course, both vast subjects in their own right. However, there is also a significant cross over between the two subjects to the extent that it is felt that the two areas can be covered quite well by this Group. Membership of the Group is absolutely free although there may be a nominal charge for at least some socials and a small administration charge will be levied for trips away to help cover the costs of running the Group. This is very much a Group where the members are invited to get involved and we welcome all positive input and suggestions for socials and trips in the future. Everyone is welcome irrespective of age or level of knowledge, whether you have a PhD in an art or history related subject or just want to learn a little bit more and socialise with those who share your interest. Please note that a condition of Membership is that you provide a reasonable quality photograph of yourself for your Profile from which you can be clearly identified. When applying you will also be asked a couple of questions about your interests and places that you'd like to visit. Whilst it's not mandatory to answer these questions we hope very much that you will take a few moments to provide some brief details as that will help us to organise socials and trips in the future that will be of interest to members of the Group.
