What we're about

We are an eclectic group of people, from all walks of life (much like AVL), that come together for one purpose... to enjoy the outdoors and the company of other people while mountain biking!

We love to ride, and we love getting others out riding. Many of our rides are geared towards beginner and intermediate riders but we do have rides for all skill levels.

---- Monday Bent Creek Beginner's Ride ----

The Asheville Mountain Bike Club has a standing Monday evening group ride at Bent Creek. This is a beginner group ride that is very much a social group ride. Here's the name of the game, no one gets dropped or left behind. There's no pressure to ride anything out of your comfort zone. Feel free to ask questions and give things a try. Practice makes better.

Keep in mind though that trails here are not paved. They are single track that have roots, rocks, man-made features, and/or other obstacles. But hey, that's what mountain biking is all about!

Concluding our ride, we all head over to Papas & Beers for good food and good beer.

---- Weekend Adventure Rides ----

Looking for a little more challenge? Seen a trail you want to ride but don't want to get lost?

Our weekend adventures rides go beyond Bent Creek. These are destination trails anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours away. We'll pick the spot and provide transportation details. These trails are generally more intermediate/expert level trails that have more challenging characteristics (faster descends, longer climbs, rocks, boulders, roots, creek crossings, jumps, etc). If you want to take your riding to the next level, join us on these rides.

---- Other Rides Sprinkled In ----

These are ad-hoc middle of the week rides. They can vary in difficulty level but are fun nonetheless. Date, times, and additional details will accompany the event posting.

---- Some other important notes -----

• A mountain bike is required - bikes with skinny tires are dangerous on trails.•

• Helmets are required and biking gloves are recommended.

• Please bring your own water, snacks, and a spare inner tube.

• If bad weather is predicted we'll post a decision as early as possible.

• We try to depart from the trailhead promptly at the posted meeting time.

• Parking is limited. Arriving early and carpooling is recommended.

• Ride is entirely at your own risk. You assume all responsibility for your own well-being.

---- And Lastly ----

Welcome to The Asheville Mountain Bike Club! We look forward to seeing you out on the trails. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Intermediate Ride - Kitsuma

Location visible to members

This ride will be a no-drop ride similar to our Monday evening rides at the Kitsuma trail in Old Fort. This ride will be an approximately 10-mile loop with 1,700 ft of climbing on a mix of paved greenway and single track, and will end with an exciting downhill back to the parking area.

Details:
A mountain bike and helmet are required, and gloves are recommended.
Please bring your own water, snacks, and a spare inner tube.
We will leave from the Old Fort Picnic area at 5:30.
This is a no-drop ride, but be aware that Kitsuma is a strenuous climb and a fast descent; you should be comfortable on singletrack mountain bike trails.
Ride is entirely at your own risk. You assume all responsibility for your own well-being.
