November 25 -- Dr Who 50th anniversary episode

If you live in South Austin, why don't you join me at Cinemark South Park at 6:15.

This will also be showing at 7:00 PM at numerous other theaters around Austin in 3-D. (Tickets are $12-$15)

(*Poster above is from Austin Comic Con - Saturday showing - must pay to attend comic-com, but I think the viewing it free.  see other meeting for details

http://events.austin360.com/austin_tx/events/show/363283263-doctor-who-the-day-of-the-doctor-3d  (link may only work if you have digital newspaper -- sorry)

Tickets are available for sale online now.  Wear something "Dr Whoish" so we can tell you're in the group (or carry Dr DVD, book, etc.) We can enter the theater together and sit as a group. But everyone there will probably be a big Dr Who fan, so if you miss us, just chat with a neighbor (Before the film that is). Hope lots of you can come.

(This show will also be on BBC america if you have cable -- simulcast with BBC UK http://www.doctorwho.tv/  But for the full big screen effect, get to a theater.)

I found out about this event on https://www.facebook.com/groups/DoctorWhoandtheTardis/  They are facebook group which is very active, lots of postings. The posting for this is several days back)

Bad new friends -- I fell and broke my tail bone and a rib last night. Won't be able to join you tonight. Will someone going to South park Meadows please bring a little sign "Austin Dr Who Meetup" Get there by 6:45 and hold up the sign so other members can join you. I'm sure you'll all have a great time. If you don't catch up with Meetup members, everyone there will be a big Dr Who fan -- don't hesitate to talk to others in line. (I will be sitting on my donut pillow, with pain killers and ice.) Hope this is shown in 3-D sometime again so I can see it too.

Sorry. Hope you at least have an epic story. If not, maybe we can work on one for you. ;-) Get well!

I did a sneak peek of this show on streaming video (had to stop due to buffering problems) but it really looked good

I have an extra ticket to the 7:30 showing at Cedar Park. My son watched the encore on tv and doesn't want to go. Let me know if you want to join me.... [masked]

    • laura k

I still have this extra ticket.

Cinemark.com and Fandango do not represent the 7:30 PM show as sold out at the moment, but I called the theater and apparently it is. I'll catch the 8 PM show.

We will be at the Regal on Little Texas Lane, looks like more shows have been added. Hubby and I saw it Saturday at Comic Con, can't wait to see it again.

I could only get tickets for 7:30 tomorrow at Southpark Meadows. What time is your showing? I'm guessing there are two showings? Is anyone else going at 7:30?

    November 24, 2013

    • lemurtx

I have tickets for 7:30 also, it looked like that was the only showing. The original post said meet at 6:15. Is that still the plan?

Is there any way I can get a ride with someone? I live in Central Austin. But I can meet someone downtown if that is easier.

I am going to try and make Tinseltown Pflugerville.

Okay laura, give me the details for comic con - when, where and the cost to attend the simulcast screening. Then I'll post a meetup. Thanks for letting me know about this.

    November 16, 2013

    • laura k

This is at the Austin Convention Center. 500 E Cesar Chavez St, Austin, TX

      November 16, 2013

    • laura k

(I don't know why they say it is from 1:50 to 3:30, as the show is not that long. There must be something else scheduled for after the screening)

      November 16, 2013

  • mary jane k.

Laura - why don't you schedule one if you're going to comic-con. Any member of this group can set up a meeting. Just let people know where and when to meet you, maybe make a little sign to hold. Give all the details about the simulcast too. Even if you're not going to comic-con it would be nice to post this, so other members know about it

    November 15, 2013

    • laura k

Hi Mary Jane, since I am brand new to the group and have never done a meetup, I didn't want to presume. I have never even attended one before...

      November 15, 2013

  • laura k

Is there a meetup for Comic Con? They are screening the simulcast at 1:50 on Saturday the 23rd.

    November 14, 2013

    • laura k

It is an official event presented by BBC America. They are screening it in a 2000 seat room with two large screens, and we need to fill it and show the BBC that Austin has a huge Doctor Who fan base so they would want to come back. They are also doing a fan event at 1pm before the screening and are looking to get Doctor Who cosplayers to participate in the event.

They will also be doing a special Best Doctor Who Costume at the big costume contest Saturday from 7:00-9:00PM, in Ballroom D.

There are additional showtimes, including some in 2D

I'm not sure. It was shot in 3-d. You can buy tickets through Cinemark or fathom events at http://www.fathomevents.com/eve... (Click buy and enter your zip code for the Austin theaters.)

Fathom events has the complete list of 300 theaters (BBC America is sponsoring this see http://www.bbcamerica.com/anglo...)

    November 7, 2013

    • Charles

Thanks, Mary Jane. I went to the fathomevents page, and it seems that they're only showing it in 3D, so I guess it's not for me. Should be fun, though!

I have already purchased tickets for Cedar Park. Also there will be a showing of the live simulcast at Comic Con. I haven't seen anyone mention that here.

So is there going to be a 2-D showing also? Some people don't do 3-D.
