  • The Azure Group - May 9th - Presentation: DevOps Projects Demystified
When: May 9th, 2018 from 6pm-8pm Where: Avanade Canada: 200 Wellington St W, 10th Floor, Toronto, ON M5V 3C7 Topic: DevOps Projects Demystified Description: This meeting will be a two part meeting. First part will be a discussion on DevOps projects. What DevOps project is? Is the DevOps project even a real thing or is just a bunch of fancy words? If it's real, how can it help you be more successful in today's IT world that changes so fast now? How to run DevOps projects? How not to run them? This should be an interesting discussions with a lot of real life DevOps war stories... The second part of the meeting will be more technical and it will be dedicated to a new DevOps Projects tool in Microsoft Azure that lets developers configure a DevOps pipeline and connect it to the cloud with no prior knowledge of how to do so. The Azure DevOps Project presents a simplified experience which creates Azure resources and sets up a continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) pipeline for when you are developing a .NET, Java, Node, PHP, or a Python app, or whether you are targeting app services, virtual machines, or containers in the cloud using Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS) behind the scenes. DevOps Projects help you get up and running with a new app and a full DevOps pipeline in just a few minutes and set you up with everything you need for developing, deploying, and monitoring your app. Create your application and release pipeline on any Azure service in just three steps—simply select an application language, a runtime, and an Azure service. Start small and scale up as needed using Azure DevOps Projects. Presenter: Max Yermakhanov (https://www.linkedin.com/in/myermakhanov/) Max is a passionate and innovative DevOps advocate who thrives on challenge and believes in success through collaboration. A veteran IT professional with 18+ years of progressive experience in private and public organizations. A Senior DevOps consultant helping clients to implement best practices around continuous deployment and scalable infrastructure. A decent developer with Master’s degree in Computer Science who just enjoys IT work too much. A dilettante librarian with Master’s in Library and Information Science. A tenacious problem-solver with strong organizational, communication and management skills who brings energy, enthusiasm, and leadership to problem resolution. • April 11th - Azure App Service Environment (ASE) for Highly Compliant Scenarios
When: April 11th, 2018 from 6pm-8pm Where: Avanade Canada: 200 Wellington St W, 10th Floor, Toronto, ON M5V 3C7 Topic: Azure App Service Environments (ASEs) in Highly Compliant Scenarios. By now we’ve all heard of App Services in Azure and have probably deployed them. Though awesome, the out of the box Azure app services are directly internet connected. What happens if we want to use these PaaS services behind our own configured security layers. The answer, is Application Service Environments (ASEs). This talk will focus on a specific deployment pattern of ASEs for highly compliant scenarios that not only have restrictions on external facing app services, but also have additional controls that prevent services within Azure even from communicating directly with the Azure management layers. You will gain a greater understanding of the underlying components of an ASE, learn ASE and App Service deployment patterns for highly compliant environments and understand additional configuration steps required to enable ASE’s in these.
