• Global Azure Bootcamp 2021 [Virtual]– Greater Toronto Area Edition

    This event is free for everybody: there are no registration fees. This event is organized by a non-profit.

    All around the world user groups and communities want to learn about Azure and Cloud Computing! On April 17, 2021, all communities will come together once again in the eighth great Global Azure Bootcamp event!

    Each community will organize their own one day deep dive class on Azure the way they see fit and how it works for their members. The result is that thousands of people get to learn about Azure and join together online under the social hashtag #GlobalAzure! The Greater Toronto Area Edition will be a day of learning and fantastic speakers all from your local Microsoft MVP community! If you are using or considering Microsoft Azure technology and want to learn more about all the great new things you can do - then this is the event for you!

    Maxime is passionate about using technology to improve customer’s and people lives. He has over a decade of international experience in the Aerospace & Defense, Healthcare, Insurance and banking industries.

    Maxime has an engineering degree from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon (France) and an Executive Cyber Security Certificate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, USA).

  • Developing scalable enterprise serverless applications on Azure with .NET

    Over the years we have seen an accelerated shift to adopting serverless and cloud native application architectures. Benefits to these architectures include decreased infrastructure costs and improved time to market, however it's still important to consider high availability and resiliency in your application design. In this session, Callon will talk about developing scalable enterprise serverless applications on Azure with .NET and use a real world example of a solution he developed and running in production.

  • Azure Kubernetes and Istio Service Mesh In Action

    Session abstract:
    Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) is a managed container orchestration service. Roy will demonstrate hosted microservices applications and the Istio service mesh. Roy will discuss some use cases of using the Istio Service Mesh and why one would consider. Also cover, how to manage your cluster with the Kubernetes Dashboard, Kiali, Prometheus, Grafana and Azure Monitor. You will see a practical overview how all these pieces work together.

    BIO: Roy Kim is a solutions architect and developer focused on Azure and Office 365. He is an independent consultant. In recent years, has been supporting solutions in Azure for large enterprise. This includes Kubernetes design and build in Azure, operational infrastructure, cloud security best practices, SharePoint Server deployment in Azure IaaS. Before then, he has been delivering SharePoint solutions public internet facing web site, document management, portals and custom development with .NET and JavaScript. A Microsoft MVP award recipient since 2017. He holds a BS in computer science degree from the University of Toronto.
