Exploring Forgiveness - Talking to the Enemy
As part of Bath Peace Weekend to celebrate United Nations Peace Day on 21st September (http://bath2014peaceblog.wordpress.com/), Jo Berry will be giving a talk at St Michael's Church in Bath.
Jo Berry's father was killed by an IRA bomb in 1984. "It felt as if a part of me died in that bomb. I was totally out of my depth but somehow I held on to a small hope that something positive would come out of the trauma."
Subsequently she met the bomber and set up Building Bridges for Peace and has been invited to work in Columbia, the Basque Country, Philippines, East Timor, Rwanda, DRC, Cyprus, Lebanon and India. In 2013 she was in Israel & Palestine.
"I'm beginning to realise that no matter which side of the conflict you're on, had we all lived each others lives, we could all have done what the other did."
Jo comes highly recommended as a speaker; her talk is due to begin at 7:30pm so I suggest we meet around 7:15pm to find each other get seats together.
The talk is free but donations will be willingly received.
