Dear BKTKers,

Happy autumn! Hope you all had a chance to indulge in the wonderful weather this weekend.

Several quick announcements:

I. If you missed our last meetup on mobile shopping with Gilt Groupe, you can watch the video recording on YouTube. Many thanks to Joly MacFie from the New York Chapter of the Internet Society!

II. Our next Meetup has to be postponed to either late October or November due to logistics (I am returning to Oxford in a week and we are trying to find someone to take over the organization). More information to come soon.

III. I'd like to share an fabulous event with you from one of our members, Miriam Safi. She works for the Society for Environmental Graphic Design (SEGD), and every year they organize a one-day lab at the intersection of digital design and the physical environment. This year it will be at the extraordinary Museum of the Moving Image! More details below:

Xlab 2013: Experience + Interaction in Public Space, New York, October 24, is SEGD’s premier innovation event connecting design, technology, and communication in the built environment.

The focus will be on how urban spaces are being shaped by digital communications, immersive experience design, and enabling information retrieval in the built environment. As the digital revolution spreads from mobile applications to new digital/physical environments, Xlab will explore the impact of emerging visual, sensing, and customization technologies on public space.

Xlab will be held at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, Queens.
