Town Gate, Hepworth, HD9 1TE, Holmfirth
DETAILS MAY CHANGE
6-7 mile circular walk starting at the Butchers Arms,Hepworth.
From the Butchers Arms we will be heading south along Town Gate, descending down through fields crossing over the A616. From here, we walk up hill, crossing a few stiles, onto a farm track. We enjoy the wonderful views of the Holme Valley, before heading back towards the hamlet of Barnside.
We then walk away from the hamlet, climbing the track along the top of the hill, where we will have a quick drinks break to enjoy the views.
We continue to take the path passing the abandoned ruin of Ox Lee Farm. Although occasionally wet and overgrown in places,a parallel path avoids the worst spots. We continue through a few fields towards a small stream- a great tree swing for those wild ones amongst us!
We meander along the stream side path, over a bridge and continue across successive fields, away from the village of Hepworth.
We finish off with a fabulous river walk before a short hill climb on the road to the Butches Arms for those who want a drink and a sparkler.
There will be cake to enjoy and say "thank you" for joining us on our first walk.
Dogs welcome, but as we will be passing through fields, which may have livestock,we trust they are well behaved and kept on a lead as needed.
Refunds are not offered for this Meetup.
