Buddhist Meditation and Study Group

The Tuesday Night meeting focuses on Zen Buddhism and the format is more traditional than the Saturday event. We take off our shoes in the vestibule, bow as we enter and leave the meditation room (Zendo), and maintain silence in the Zendo except for practical reasons and the Dharma talk.

Talk and group discussion: 5:00-5:50 P.M.

Break: 5:50-6:00

Zazen (Meditation) 6:00-6:30

Service (Chanting and bowing) 6:30-6:45

Meditation instructions: Sit up straight, put your hands comfortably in your lap or on your knees, and focus your mind on your in and out breath. If you wish, count each in/out combination up to 10 and then start over. Any variation that keeps your attention in the present will do. When you realize you are thinking about something, let the thought go and return to the present.
