Middlebury Chapter of the Burlington Writers Workshop

  • Ilsley Public Library

75 Main St, Middlebury, VT (map)

    44.012470 -73.169334

  • We meet in the back of the library, parking lot side, in the Community Room (basement door through gardens)

Join us for a writing craft workshop with Julia Shipley, Vermont poet and teacher. http://www.writingonthefarm.com/

This evening's program will be useful to nonfiction and fiction writers alike. What we do to and with these books (see below) will enrich our understanding of what's happening inside our own prose projects and will help them become stronger and more vital.

To this end (to prepare) participants should:

    1) Make a list of books you have read more than once and/or books you repeatedly recommend to friends

    2) Chose a book from those lists and purchase a used copy (I recommend abebooks.com; some paperbacks sell for as little as one dollar)

    3) Bring this used favorite book  along with a highlighter pen (we are going to mark it up, which is why I suggest obtaining a surplus inexpensive copy).

    4) Members should also bring a copy of whatever prose project they are most deeply involved in--be it a single story or a whole novel.
