Please join us for a revitalized poetry workshop. All are welcome to participate! Be sure to read and make comments in advance on the three poems to be workshopped.
1) Three participants will each have a poem workshopped by the group.
2) We'll look at and discuss examples of persona poetry, or poems written in the first person, from the point of view of someone who is not the writer. This will include parts of Tyehimba Jess' Pulitzer Prize-winning book Olio.
Voluntary take-home challenge:
Choose a photo or photos from a supplied pile of vintage snapshots (everyday, non-studio photographs from the late 19th/early 20th centuries - yes, Elisabeth has a rather eccentric hobby) and write a persona poem (in first person) from the point of view of someone(s) in the photograph(s).
