Please join us for a poetry workshop.
1. Group Workshopping:
Three poems (by three separate poets) will be workshopped by the group. NOTE: These poems can be in any style, any form, on any topic.
2. Themed Discussion:
Poetry comics are a hybrid creative form that combine aspects of both comics and poetry. We'll look at some interesting examples, discuss how the purely visual can stand in for a word or line, or illustrate a poem. It can also add an extra dimension of meaning, or supply implications and hints that aren't necessarily clear from the poem alone.
The voluntary take-home challenge: Use imagery (collaged, found, created - drawn from your imagination, family photos, artwork), to create a poetry comic - i.e. illustrate your poem and/or create or find imagery that enhances the impact or meaning of your poem. If you do this challenge, bring that poem with you the next time you come to the workshop and there will be time at the end to briefly share it.
3. Sharing Poems Inspired by the Last Workshop:
If anyone did the take-home challenge from the last workshop, we'll briefly share those with the group.
