This Months Prompt: The Fall - In music as in literature, fall is the sometimes cruel reminder that each person, or character, reaps what seeds they sow in the spring. Whether a fall from grace, a "falling out" relationship, "falling off the wagon" of some preferred life track, the fall is inextricably linked to the melancholy of loss. As a songwriter, see what inspiration you can channel by recognizing, accepting, or revolting against these inevitable changes in the weather and our lives.

Discussion topic - "Darkest before the Dawn" what's the role of darkness in songwriting, both in imagery and tone? What songwriters have used darkness effectively, and what distinguishes them from songwriters whos darkness overshadows their craft? How can use darkness as tool to create rich values and contrast in your music?

What we'll do
-Discuss songwriting in a open, collaborative environment.
-Share songs that we've written, give and receive constructive feedback from other songwriters.
