Quest for the Stone, Summer Expedition 2014

Come cogs one and all to this year’s expedition to the Alberta wilderness.  This year we will quest for ancient aboriginal petro glyphs at Writing-On-Stone Provincial park. One of the group camping sites is booked for our use on the weekend of June 21-22nd.  The site includes a camp shelter and other basic facilities. The cost of the site will be divided amongst those attending.

Activities will include a tour of the Petro-glyphs, hiking in the hills and for those who dare swimming in the river.  A look at a local outpost of the NWMP may also be possible for those who wish.

There is still a high stream flow warning for the Milk River in the park.
Hopefully it will have subsided by the weekend.

I'm going to have to pull out till I figure out what's wrong with my steering. It sucks that I seem to be having a run of bad luck for making meet ups these past few months

If any of you have dingy's, a fun activity is to be dropped off at the Rodeo grounds and float down the river to the campground. We will have a pick up truck to haul those who are interested in a lazy trip down the Milk River to the rodeo grounds.

We would like to go too, but the school calendar may take precedence that weekend. I'm going to say we are going since there's no 'maybe' option, just in case. We have a family-sized tent and would be looking after our own food as well (always enough to share, of course) Cheers!

Hi, we are interested in going. It depends on the trailer situation. It's a very small trailer. Any thoughts on how late is too late to book a spot?

    April 11, 2014

    • Mike J.

depends on how many sign up. We have a group spot booked for 5 units which can be bumped up to 8 for more $.

      April 11, 2014

    • Christie V.

We've booked our own spot as our trailer is a bit of a space hog, so there should be room for you Monica.

What does steampunk camping gear look like? Swim gear, (long bike shorts and a blouse top :0) - are these inquiries taking the trend too far? :0)

Thanks - that's such a surprise - haven't worn one since renting one at the Banff springs some (long) time ago ~!

      March 4, 2014

We actually had a Victorian swimming event a few years ago (non Steampunk). As for the camping event a combination of regular and steampunk outfits is recommended.

      1 · March 5, 2014

We will be bringing 2 people and one tent.
