What we're about
Upcoming events (5+)
Community building through meaningful making! Each month there will be a new project around a basic theme. All materials are provided along with instruction and support. For November's project we will be making Blessing Cards with the theme of "gratitude"... (I know, somewhat predictable). There will be assorted papers, beads, pens and collage materials to choose from. You may bring photos to include in your work if you wish. We will talk about the ways to work with the blessing cards and there will be examples to help get a basic idea. Instructions will be given. All levels of experience are welcome - give it a try! There is a fee of $10.00 or pay as you are able. The Center For Spiritual Wellbeing 7100 SW Hampton St Suite 126 - in the Commerce Plaza Building on the corner of SW 72nd Ave and SW Hampton St. Use the same parking entrance as Maria Latina restaurant & catering. Suite #126!
Let's use our creativity and write! We will send out encouragement, compassion and care to others who are struggling. In coordination with a variety of websites to connect to recipients, we will create cards and messages of hope and healing. We will start with a sharing time to discuss and contemplate each card request and what we hope for the recipient. Then we will create our cards and messages and will have time to share our cards if we wish before we close. This is a time to contribute a drop or two of kindness into the world. Donations accepted for materials and postage. All are welcome.
Many people seek places to belong and share together in meaningful ways. That is the purpose of this event; to gather and share a meal with others, and to join together in a mandala of peace created in the dance circle. The potluck starts at 12 and there will be food to share. Just bring a dish or non-alcoholic drink to share. Please list the ingredients in your food for those who have dietary restrictions. The Dances of Universal Peace begin at 1-2:30. These dances are sometimes called "moving meditations" because the dancers often report feelings of deep peace, grounding and connection after participating. Each dance includes simple movements along with sacred phrases from many of the world's wisdom traditions. The dances are easily learned and are fully taught by certified dance leaders, Michael Sheehan and Michelle (Mu'mina) Sparks-Smith. No experience is needed and everyone can participate. Feel free to come to part or all of the day's activities. Donations for the Dances are appreciated. The monthly walk is located in the Community Room at The Center for Spiritual Wellbeing. Feel free to walk in the door and down the hall. Turn right and you will find the community room and the labyrinth waiting for you. Quiet music may be playing and instructions are available.
