What the best book you've read recently?

Hmmm...Gone Girl is awfully good. But so are The Yellow Birds, The Book Thief, and In the Woods.

If you're in a bookstore, what section do you hit first?

New releases in fiction.

What is the last book that you've read? Would you recommend it?

I just finished reading Kevin Powers' debut novel The Yellow Birds. It's the story of one soldier taking on responsibility for another in the midst of the savagery of war. To say a book about war is beautiful is odd, but Powers' prose is poetic and brilliant.

I am an avid reader and occasional writer looking forward to reading with other Charleston book lovers.
