This is a car camping outing to the state park with an option of a paddle outing on the Waccamaw River Blue Water Trail, which flows through the Waccamaw Heritage Preserve, on Saturday, April 13, meeting at the put-in at 11AM. We will car camp in Group Site #1, is on the north end of the park. The Cost is: $5.00 per night/per site. This site will accommodate 25 campers and their tents. The site has picnic tables, fire ring with benches, lantern posts, metal food lockers, nearby parking, and restrooms with sinks and flush toilets. Many live oak trees shade all the sites, and the group site is very close to the beach. Parking is just a few feet from the campsite, but you will need to carry your gear to your campsite. Hot showers are located in the family campground, a short drive from the group sites.
Reservations have been made for both Friday and Saturday nights, you may come for one, or both nights. Late arrivals (after 11pm), will need the combo to the main park gate, otherwise the main gate is open 6AM-11PM daily. You may also need to pay a park entrance fee at the gatehouse unless you have a state park annual pass.
Huntington Beach SP has many amenities to offer the visitor and a diversity of habitats and wildlife. There is a freshwater lagoon for seeing the birds, and checking out the alligators. There are several hiking trails in the park, including a 13-mile bike trail which enters the park and travels through a local neighborhood. There are also many nearby restaurants close to the park, or you may prefer to do your own campsite cooking. You can log-on to the state park website www.southcarolinastateparks.com for more information on this state park. Please – NO PETS.

Hi, They are probably already there. You might try calling Art Seel on his cell phone Art Seel (803)[masked] for details. I don't know for sure if he has his cell phone but I think that would be the best bet. You can find information on all Sierra Club outings at http://www.southcarol...

The best person to ask about put-in and the possibility of rentals would be the group leader, who is Art Seel. [masked]

Hi, Contact the leader to see if rentals are available on site. There are places to rent in Charleston but that's a way to haul the kayaks (Nature Adventurers Outfitters, Sea Kayak Carolina, Timeout Sports, and Coastal Expeditions all rent kayaks but you might have to buy a blue foam carrier for the top of your car to get kayak there. Rentals may be offered on some Sierra trips this summer.
