New Meetup: Chicago Cisco Meet Up Group

From: Matthew L.
Sent on: Sunday, November 30, 2008 2:55 PM
Welcome to the Chicago Cisco group. My name is Matthew Lechleider and I have decided to start organizing this group. I have successfully ran the Chicago Drupal Meet Up Group for over two years. The group started out with 5 members just as we are now and currently has 220+. I am interested to see how fast this group grows and what we can accomplish.

A little bit about my self......I have a bachelor's degree in computer science from De Paul. My major was network technologies. To put my self through college I have worked at onShore Networks which is a residential and commercial ISP in Chicago. I deal with various network related equipment on a daily basis....Cisco, Alcatel, Juniper, Overture, Linux systems, etc...I do not have any Cisco certifications and am interested how I would do on the exams. Hopefully this group will motivate me to move forward and look more into certification.

We are more than welcomed to hang out in the onShore conference room on a monthly basis, but only comfortably sits about 20 people. If any members have another conference room available for us to utilize, contact me. As an ISP, we have tons of gear sitting around we can use. Hopefully we can encourage other members to bring gear for us to educate each another.

If anyone has any ideas or just wants to say hi.....
