I've had or seen several requests to remove people from an email thread, or be removed from the group itself.
1) I can't remove you from a the group, you have to do that yourself. I believe this is completed through the My Profile page.
2) Concerning emails and threads, you can go into the control settings under:
MY PROFILE | EMAIL and NOTIFICATIONS, then adjust what yo want sent to you.
3) It appears there are several ways to contact people
Email address for mailing list: [address removed]
Email address for announcements: [address removed]
Plus, if you exchange your individual email addresses with people then you can build a private list like a CCNA study group, for example.
