• June's Girly Book Club at 6:30pm *New Member Induction at 6:00pm*

I am very excited to read some history, well historical fiction, in June! Radium Girls by Kate Moore is a well researched narrative on the lives of factory girls. As one amazon reviewer, Kasia Olm, put it, "The suffering, the indifference, the greed, the lies, the audacity... 90 years later it is still easy to imagine it happening over and over again." We will meet at the Long Room is a relaxed bar and coffeehouse with a large, rotating list of beers. Bring cash for the photobooth in the back. They have food provided by the Biscuit Man, a separate company with a food counter in the venue. We have a reservation for the long table at the left on the raised platform. Just walk straight through the bar. • 10 Things I Hate About You - Millennium Park Film Series

    Jay Pritzker Pavilion

If you haven't been, Tuesdays in the summer, there is the Millennium Park film series. Let's watch a classic, 10 Things I Hate About You, based on the Taming of the Shrew. Extra points if you finish the Shakespeare play beforehand. I work close to the park so I will be there early with a large picnic blanket. Come one, come all, to watch a movie in the park. July 9: 10 Things I Hate About You Movie starts at 6:30 p.m. Programmed in collaboration with Chicago Shakespeare Theater In an update of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, pretty and popular teenager Bianca Stratford cannot date unless her unpopular, rebellious older sister Kat does as well…thanks to their father’s rules. Thus starts the scheme to set Kat up with another rebel who may be able to win Kat’s heart. The cast includes Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles. The Piggery

July's read is Less by Andrew Sean Greer, which I saw all over the airports of Chicago and New York on my trip recently! It's a Pulitzer Prize winner and supposed to be quite an amazing book. Let's discuss after reading at the Piggery's roof top bar. We have a reservation there, just go up the stairs on the far left and go out to the roof on the second floor. It's a sports bar in Lake View. Hopefully it will be an amazingly sunny day that will make us glad we live in Chicago.
