Meet with other like minded individuals and help fill in the gap left by religion when we no longer subscribe to and believe in religion. Culture and religion are vehicles for information not meant to be strictly followed but once properly understood meant to be changed. We only have to look at our current society, economy and the states of many of our home countries to understand that the religious institutions have failed us. Secular education, critical thinking and keeping the church separated from the state have been the only real means by which human progress has been achieved. Help us raise awareness throughout our communities working through our collective issues as a global human community and through our unique cultural issues as Latino/a's (or Hispanics if you prefer). This group is open to anyone regardless of race, ethnicity, eye color, height, weight, sexual orientation, political affiliation or religious/non-religious leanings. All are welcome.

It was great to see you all this morning! Today's discussion got me thinking about an essay I read a few weeks ago: "Confessions of an Ex-Mormon." It's about how he started to have doubts growing up, but how there are still some things that he values and misses about his religious upbringing. It's a really great, nuanced account, from a very personal perspective.
