Coed softball for fun @ Riverdale Park

As you are likely aware, the 4th of July is Independence Day in America - the most important national holiday across the border!

Baseball has always been America's national pasttime, so what better way to mark the occasion than to play some fun co-ed softball on that Friday night! Bring your softballs, gloves (an extra one if you have one) and bats!

Free of charge!

We'll play at Riverdale Park, which is one of the most beautiful parks in all of Toronto.  They have two baseball diamonds, multiple sport fields and a beautiful view of the Toronto skyline.

We will meet at 7:30 PM in the park, where the Dr. Sun Yat Sen monument is.  Dr. Sun Yat Sen, who went to high school in Hawaii (the same high school as President Obama), is known as the Founding Father of Modern China.  In 1911, he ended imperial rule with dreams of a modern democracy.  Riverdale Park is known as Chinatown East and there is a dignified monument of him there, which is a good place to meet.

We'll play for about 2 hours until 9:30 PM.  Afterwards, if people are hungry, we can go for food after :-)

Let's play ball!!!

Hi everyone. I have a favour to ask. Has anyone immigrated from mainland China recently? Or knows anyone that has? I'd like to ask him/her about the process please. Thanks. Gary

My apologies to everyone who showed up! As we did our very best to get there. We even bought a new bat and balls for the event. Lesson learned for next time as we are coming in from Burlington and will have to leave much much earlier! Again I am very sorry!

That's alright, Adrian! We'll plan at least one more softball game this summer, to make sure your new bat and balls don't go to waste :-)

Anyone know the enterance we should take to get to the park?

    July 4, 2014

Any entrance is fine. We'll meet where the statue above is. The address for the park is 550 Broadview. I am wearing light blue Jays tee and turquoise cap.

Which field are we playing on? And do we have a permit? I think they are used quite often. Whenever I drive by I see people playing.

Usually people play in weekly softball leagues but almost no games are scheduled on a Friday night! We should be fine.
