What we're about

The Church (intentional spiritual community) of Otherly (different from the generally implied kind of) Love

Evolving as a human society demands that we dismantle the patriarchy, while mainstream organized religion remains a most potent force in nurturing patriarchal ideas. Holding onto a belief in a higher power or a need for spiritual community can create intense internal conflict, but it doesn't have to be that way. A primary goal of the Church of Otherly Love is to provide an option for spiritual community based on a few simple truths:

sewi li ale, ale li sewi
(god is all and all are god)

"Pantheism is the belief that reality is identical with divinity, or that all-things compose an all-encompassing, immanent god." - Wikipedia

sewi (god, the divine) is non-binary: neither male nor female; not inherently singular or plural in nature; not good or bad; not any extreme of any spectrum, but equally every thing and no one thing.

mi kama sona e sama tawa ni: mi sona e sewi

(we study ourselves to know god)
The purpose of life is to discover and know ourselves, individually and in community; to express our unique selves so that all may be enriched and better know the full nature of sewi.

Otherly Beginnings: CoOL Foundations

Shoreline Library

At this first informational meeting, we'll discuss the history, goals and foundational beliefs of the group, followed by Q&A and a meet and greet. My goal is to start having weekly gatherings in February. This is church reimagined: part cuddle party, part house concert, part philosophy club; inspired by Burning Man, feminism, relationship anarchy/polyamory, identity politics, solarpunk, and my own neuroqueer journey.
