This 7.2 mile section hike south along the Appalachian Trail ascends and descends approximately 500 feet over the course of the hike, making this hike more moderate than many of our AT hikes in the past and a good hike for those who wish to attempt a intermediate hike.

This is a Section Hike - which means there will be car shuttling involved... thus we will meet at one end of the hike and carpool to the other. We will need a few kind-hearted hikers to shuttle to the trail head and additional shuttlers to help at the end of the hike.

Please do not use the "no" RSVP function unless you need to cancel from a "yes". This is a standard preference for all Connecticut Hiking Alliance Meetups. Other Meetup groups may have a different preference.

Time: 10:00

Distance: 7.2 miles

Location: Appalachian Trail head Parking area Route 22 Pawling, NY

Pace: A moderate pace with breaks for water and views but the intent is to cover the distance.

Food and Drink: A snack or two and at least TWO quarts of water! Please eat and drink plenty of fluids before you hike, if you are undernourished or dehydrated you will have trouble, which will ruin the hike for you and others.

Equipment: This is a fall hike meaning we have the potential for anything most likely cool in the morning with the potentail to get warmer as we hike. Please dress accordingly with wicking appeal that will help keep you both warm and cool.

As with all hikes CT Alliance hikes, hiking boots/shoes are a must. We hike on trails not walking paths. Proper clothing is also important; please dress appropriately but prepare for changing conditions as taking layers off or putting them on will assist in keeping you comfortable during the stretch of a hike.

Cotton is NOT appropriate wear during activities that cause you to sweat and cool therefore please select your hiking apparel with this in mind... denim is off limits as it becomes heavy and if wet becomes even more difficult. This will hinder your ability to keep pace with the group and negatively impact the enjoyment of those who came with proper dress/supplies for hiking.

If you are uncertain as to what clothing or items are considered hiking wear, please email me directly, or email any of the co-organizers. We will also be able to share referrals to suppliers of both new and gently used hiking apparel and supplies.

Bug repellent and sun screen.

Apres-hike: As always, we will follow the hike with a social outing. A location will be posted prior to the hike , any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
