Rt. 100, West Dover , VT
THIS IS A BLAST involving a HIKE and it is a Wounded Warrior fund-raiser. Come join the Connecticut Hiking Alliance Tough Mudder New England Challenge Team - experienced, inexperienced, competitive, just out for fun. Spectators are also needed! Give back to those who served our country and were injured in our name. Read on...
You can participate. It's easy - not timed, participants must help other participants. It's not a competition. It's not an iron man. It's not a marathon. The "obstacles" can be skipped if you wish to just hike it out!
You can spectate too! We also need a cheering section.
Both spectating and participating involve giving. Both receive tax deductions too.
All participants and spectators must register and pay through the Tough Mudder event registration website - CLICK HERE
WE HAVE A TEAM, IT IS THE "CONNECTICUT HIKING ALLIANCE" MAKE SURE YOU JOIN THE TEAM.
A yes RSVP does not enter participants or spectators please; register online through the link above.
Please do not use the "no" RSVP function unless you need to cancel from a "yes". This is a standard preference for all Connecticut Hiking Alliance Meetups. Other Meetup groups may have a different preference.
Time: Shooting for a 9:00 start time. Once we do get a start time from Tough Mudder, I will ask that you arrive an hour before as final registration can be crowded. Thousands participate over a two day period. Why so many? Because it's fun and it's for a very good cause.
Location: Mount Snow Rt. 100 West Dover, VT
Food and Drink: The course has hydration stations as well as nourishment stations. We'll check the weather a day or two in advance in case there is a need for you to bring extra water (which the spectators will carry for you).
Equipment: This event is a 10 mile hike up and down Mt Snow with obstacles, some being water. Thus, your clothing MUST be wicking material, not cotton. Also be prepared for changing conditions. When you arrive it will most likely be cooler and warm up considerably as we hike. Please dress accordingly with a wicking base layer apparel that will help keep you both warm and cool with appropriate outer layer apparel that can be removed or added as needed. If there is a need for this extra layer, the spectators will carry it for you.
You need a trail shoe. Hiking boots are overkill. Trail runners are ideal and be prepared to get them dirty. Many leave their shoes behind after the event, as a donation, Tough Mudder collects them, cleans them and distributes them to the needy.
There will be showers available (hot water for a fee) for clean up after the event so bring clean clothes for the apres and ride home.
If you are uncertain as to what clothing or items are considered proper wear, please message me (Bob) directly.
Bring bug repellent and sun screen as well.
Apres-hike: As always, we will follow the competition with a social outing. A location will be posted prior to this Act Of Kindness.
Legal: By clicking on "Yes" for this event you agree, warrant, and covenant as follows:
In consideration for accepting this entry, I, the registrant, intending to be legally bound, for myself, my heirs, my executors and administrators, do waive and release any and all rights for damages I may have against any parties or persons connected with the Connecticut Hiking Alliance for and related to the above listed event. I attest and verify that I am physically fit to participate in any portion of this above listed event. I grant the Connecticut Hiking Alliance permission to use any photographs, film or videotapes of this event for any purpose. And we take many many photos - take a look at the previous events. If you do not wish to be photographed, this is not the group for you.
To communicate with a specific individual member - please message them directly (through meet up). The postings to the site go to every member and should be topics that would be pertinent to all members. Meetup sites all have message functions for conversations between members.
