At this 2 hour meetup you will get to examine four different functioning aquaponic systems made following two different designs, Raft and Fill-&-Drain.

1-A Friendly Aquaponics Micro, deep-water, 64 square foot, raft system (see one here) which is 15 months old.

2-A Murray Hallam three bed gravel flood and drain system, which is 14 months old.

3-A dry demo 150 gallon IBC aquaponic system that uses a super simple timed flood & drain setup will be available to view. It is a good first backyard or medium sized patio system and easy enough for a DIY beginner to build.

4-A simple one barrel "Herb" garden system

Bob Jordan's got a great website with lots of pictures of his systems at

A wealth of valuable experience will be on tap to save you time and money on your build. This will not be a construction session, but an information session with time to take pictures and get an idea how any or all of these systems might work for you in your situation.

Come join the fun!

If you RSVP yes, please un RSVP if you change your mind, so we can better prepare.

Aquaponic Classes

1/ AP Introduction Class
2a/ One barrel Aquaponics system build or
2b/ One IBC Tote Aquaponics system build
3/ Advanced AP class
4/ Introduction to Commercial (Available late July)
5/ Commercial Aquaponic System Design (Available in August)

We have designed our classes so you benefit the most from them by taking them in order. It maximizes your and our time and your leaning experience
You are welcome to omit either of the build classes 2a or 2b but, please:
Take 1/ Intro before 3/ Advance
Take 3/ Advanced before 4/ Intro to Commercial
Take 4/ Intro to Commercial before 5/ Commercial Design

Barrel kits will be available at all but the Commercial classes. You can come to an introduction to Aquaponics or one of the “build” class and leave with a kit ready to assemble, just add the pump, controls of your choice, and some fish, to have a system ready to grow

55 gallon plastic barrels are available for $25 each. You may be able to find them cheaper but make sure they are food grade. Some of our barrels do not have the 2 plugs with them, which you will need to build the One Barrel Aquaponic System. You will not need the plugs if you build a Travis Hugley Barrel-ponics system.

Raft way liner is available for $1/sq ft and comes in 12’ minimum width. So the minimum quantity is 12’x1’ for $12. Just tell us how long a piece you need.

Supplies are available at most meetings.
Email us if you would like to make sure we will have what you want and tell us which meeting you will attend to pick up your supplies.
