The DSA Monthly Scene Reading is an opportunity to allow DSA members to make their words 3-D imensional by bringing in 10 pages of their script of choice to be performed in a table read by a group of actors.
DO'S OF THE SCENE READS:
DO: Remember that in order to have your pages read, you must be an active, registered member of the Dallas Screenwriters Association prior to the date of the scene read. Membership to the DSA is separate from membership to this Meet-Up. (Although we would love to have you as both). To become a member, please visit http://www.dallasscreenwriters.com/membership.html
DO: Writers and actors wishing to participate must arrive at Half Price Books between 6-6:30 p.m. in order to sign in and be cast. Due to the popularity of these reads, it is a good idea arrive as close to 6 o'clock as possible. In the words of every informercial ever, time is limited, and spots fill up fast!
DO: Bring no more than 10 pages. Please provide enough copies for each speaking character and narrator. You may bring up to two or three projects in case time allows for multiple readings.
DO: Feel free to come and watch even if you are not a DSA member (yet. hint, hint...). Our scene reads are an excellent opportunity to network with other local writers and actors. Make new friends and contacts. Listen to your peers and become inspired to raise your game. Enjoy being with people who will not look at you like you have a third head if you complain that in Act Two your characters suddenly refused to do what your outline said they should.
