I work remotely, and I know a lot of you all do as well. Staying productive and not having a sense of community can make it hard sometimes.
Let's create a meetup that happens twice a month where we can work on our separate jobs together, chat over coffee, help one another stay accountable, and just create a community of our own!
I'll change the locations to different areas of the greater DSM area, but let's meet at my apartment complex in Downtown for the first one. There is a huge community room with booths, standing tables, couches, a conference room with a whiteboard, a printer, lobby bathrooms, and more. Plenty of room for everyone, FREE Starbucks coffee and tea with the onsite coffee machine, free and fast WiFi, and more. As this continues, we could even work outside by the pool area or on the rooftop when it's warmer. There are plenty of outlets, but do charge your laptop and phone beforehand.
I'm putting the time for the group from 9am-12pm, but people are of course welcome to stay longer. This will allow time to get to know each other while also having "Focus Sessions" when we set a timer for an hour at a time to put our heads down and get stuff done! A customized Pomodoro method never hurts (google Pomodoro technique if that doesn't sound familiar).
