Free Introductory Class – Basic Aikido
This week the Dojo will have open house. We will have a free introductory class to Aikido. These classes are for anyone with or without martial arts experience to come explore and learn. We will be holding a basic Aikido classes. We are a traditional Aikido Dojo and we teach our classes and curriculum as it was intended by Morihei Ueshiba the Founder of Aikido. You are welcome to come and participate or observe this dynamic martial art. This is a great opportunity for people that want try martial arts without a monthly commitment. A Gi (a white cotton outfit consisting of pants and jacket) is not necessary for a the first few classes. However, if you have one Gi, we recommend to bring it. Please arrive 15 minutes early so you can meet the instructor, and sign the “Assumption of Risk” waiver form. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that you can move in easily, with pants that reach below your knees (to protect your knees from mat burn). Both men and ladies change rooms are available. If you a RSVP, we will make our best to have an advanced student to help Sensei with your learning. Please, let us to know, if you change your opinion and you will not go to the class to keep you in the group. We have just 50 slots for the group and people that RSVP without coming will be excluded from the group. We want that people have the opportunity to experience Aikido. So, you are entitle to take two free classes without any compromise. After two classes, if you want, we could became a regular member of City Aikido of LA. We will hold classes each Saturday, 2017 at 10:45 to 12:00 AM. A liability waiver is required in order to participate in Aikido classes. Aikido: Aikido is a non-competitive Japanese martial art with emphasizes blending with a partner. The word Aikido is translated as “The way of Harmony through K” (universal Energy). Aikido in its physical application is designed to de defensive. Martially, it aims to control the opponent. Aikido techniques allow one to subdue another while not inflicting serious harm. The goal is not to defeat others but subdue discord with oneself, to harmonize one’s, and, body and spirit. There is not tournaments or contest in Aikido, Practice sessions provide a cooperative, harmonious environment in which to learn. Instructor: The chief instructor is Kazuho Nishida – he is a certified Aikido instructor (Shidoin) through the USAF and Aikikai Foundation in Japan. He holds a 6th degree black belt and is a certified instructor in Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido, collectively studying both arts for the last 40 years.
