Landscape Workshop- Northumberland

  • Jan 17, 2014 · 1:00 PM

This is a small group workshop based in Beadnell on the Northumberland coast, led by award winning local photographer Jason Friend.

His website is http://www.jasonfriend.co.uk/

The workshop will be based in the Beadnell Towers hotel and we would travel there on the afternoon of the 17th January taking advantage of late afternoon light by stopping en route to catch the last of the sun around holy island at around 3:30pm.
For the workshop with Jason, the proposed itinerary is:

Saturday:
Sunrise at Embleton Bay / Dunstanburgh Castle (iconic views of the castle)
Midday - Alnwick river walk with great views of Alnwick Castle and Lion Bridge
Sunset - Beadnell, which contains the only west facing harbour entrance on the east coast of England. On the evening, if you have access to laptops, we could have a meal and drink and discuss post processing of images.

Sunday:
Sunrise at Bamburgh / Bamburgh Castle
Midday - Causeway to Lindisfarne / Holy Island, with us crossing the causeway at approximately 12.15 and spending the rest of the day on Holy Island exploring several viewpoints of Lindisfarne Castle and Priory. Sunset would be taking shots of the iconic boat houses and surrounding harbour.

The cost for the trip, based on 5 people attending, all wanting single occupancy rooms on a DBB basis would be around £250 per person. The cost comes down if rooms are shared or we organise on a bed and breakfast basis only or people can arrange their own accommodation if they prefer. Transport costs would be shared and we would need 2 cars. Final details can be worked out in the next few weeks re these arrangements.
A non- refundable deposit of £100 would be needed to secure a place on the trip. This would be payable in early October.
Anyone interested should book a place as soon as possible. I will arrange a meeting in a suitable venue (a pub) in the next few weeks where we can finalise details and make the necessary bookings.
If anyone has any questions, either drop me a note or give me a call [masked]).

Cheers all for an excellent time in Northumberland.

It was rather wet and misty, but in the end we did find plenty to take photos of. It goes to show you just need to go out even if you have to brave the elements, wind, water, waves - the lot.

Hi all, it looks like I'm the only driver from Edinburgh. My car is not large- especially if its full of camera gear, but I'm happy to drive. I plan to leave about 1pm in order to stop for sunset at Bamburgh- or somewhere else if anyone has better idea.
I think the easiest thing is to meet on the corner of Belgrave Crescent and Queensferry Road, by the church.

Hi Malcolm. Looking forward to this trip! I see you're arranging a get-together in the next few weeks to finalise things. Just to let you know I'm away on holiday from tomorrow until the end of the month. Many thanks. Brian

Hi, I am interested in joining the trip, I have pressed RSVP but I'm getting bounced out. Can I still book a place?

    October 11, 2013

    • Malcolm P.

I can't see any reason why the RSVP doesn't work, but there is a space available and if you decide to go, that gives me the numbers and I can ask for deposits to book the photographer and try and agree on accommodation. Can you give it one more try and if that doesn't work, I will see what I can do.

sounds good but going to have to consolidate what I learn in Glencoe first so would be interested in this next year if it is again available. Thanks for organising all these exciting events!
