Kaleido Family Arts Festival that runs from Sept 13th to 15th

NOTE: IF YOU PARK SOUTH OF 118 BETWEEN 3:30 AND 8:30PM ON SATURDAY YOU WILL BE TOWED/ DUE TO THE ESKIMO FOOTBALL GAME

Note: The festival covers three days.  There are a TON of events starting from Friday @8:00pm to Sunday @6:00pm. Special events include a lantern parade on Friday @ 10pm, and the Vibe Tribe gypsy Circus at 9:15pm on Saturday.  Make sure to check the festival schedule at http://kaleidofest.ca/schedule/

This link provides a map of the festival as well parking availibility. There is a football game on Saturday so residential parking restriction applies. http://kaleidofest.ca/location/

As  Laurice and I have many obligations this weekend -including volunteering for Kaleido at the photobooth located at Nina Haggerty- we will drop by when we can, however, we are unable to schedule a specific meetup date and time.  We encourage you to attend with your family and friends or arrange an outing with other members.  Keep an eye out for photographers sporting the ShutterBugs pin!

** The Carrot was so impressed with our display photo entries that they have requested 2 more photos from the Kaleidofest to be part of their October window display!  Make sure to post your photos asap on the album and we will notify you if your photo is chosen because you will need to send us the digital file right away. BTW, for the display they have to be B&W and an 8x10 format so keep that in mind when you are shooting. Thanks!

The web page describes Kaleido Family Arts Festival as:
"Alberta Avenue comes alive with a free arts festival featuring music, dance, theatre, film, literary, and visual arts.

Artists collide in an environment of creative exploration and performances on rooftops, sides of buildings, back alleys, parks, old spaces and new spaces of 118th Avenue. You have the see it to believe it! Where won’t an artist be?
Kaleido is produced by Arts on the Ave.

118th Ave will be closed from 91-94th street from Friday, September 13, 2012 at 3 PM until Sunday, September 15, 2012 at 8 PM to make way for the Kaleido Family Arts Festival"

Through previous discussions and meetings Kaye and I have introduced ourselves to the Rat Creek Press http://www.ratcreek.org/ which focuses on the 118 Ave community.
They have reviewed our web page for Kaleido and they would like to pull a few images off the web page to place in their next issue, however they would like to have a few more photos from different photographers.
It was indicated to me that they have until Monday to decide which photos they will publish. If you want the opportunity to have your photo published by the Rat Creek Press, please upload your photos for consideration, ASAP.
I will be contacted regarding which photos the Rat Creek Press wants to publish and in turn I will contact each photographer to advise them that their photo has been selected and to discuss quality of the image if necessary.
PLEASE, do not contact the RAT CREEK PRESS directly!!!!
The Rat Creek Press will give acknowledgement to the individual artist as well as to the Shutter-Bugs club.

I am going to try to make the lantern parade and the Gypsy Tribe night but cannot commit. I will be there off and on throughout Sat and Sunday. If you have an acquaintance through the club then I encourage you to contact them or just post when you are a going and maybe you can hook up to shoot together.
Looking forward to as there will be lots to see and do (that is pointing your camera!)
