Let's walk the beautiful Bolsa Chica Wetlands!

This easy walk will take us on paths through the mostly flat wetlands, where countless of water fowl make their home or stop to rest and feed before traveling again on their migratory path. Bordered on one side by Pacific Coast Highway and oil fields and houses on the other, Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve wetlands is a 300 acre coastal sanctuary for wildlife and migratory birds.

There's a wooden bridge crossing over a tidal inlet and a 3.5 mile loop trail providing spectacular wildlife viewing. We will walk at a moderate pace, not a power walk, but not a stroll, either. Wear walking shoes (tennis shoes OK). You might want to bring a water bottle and a jacket in case it is chilly. We will be walking a total distance of 3.5 miles (1 hour).

DIRECTIONS: Meet in the paved parking lot of the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, located on Pacific Coast Highway halfway between Warner and Seapoint, across the street from Bolsa Chica State Beach. It is located at the only signal between Warner and Seapoint. (We will not be meeting at the nature center parking lot on Warner near PCH.)

If you are driving north on PCH, after passing Seapoint, turn right in the parking lot at the next signal.

If you are driving south on PCH, after passing Warner, turn right at the next signal into the entrance to Bolsa Chica State Beach. Make an immediately u-turn in the entrance-way to the state park. Turn left onto PCH with a green light, and make an immediate right turn into the parking lot of the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve.

PARKING: Park where you can find a space in the parking lot. Meet by the large descriptive signs at the end of the parking lot. Please arrive 10 minutes early; we will be departing at 6:30 pm sharp.
