Have been wanting to see these guys for a while but the gig at Hug & Pint sold out quickly so I'm glad I'll get the opportunity to see them this year. I think anyone who came to the 'PINS' gig earlier this year should also like these guys.
Glasgow two-piece Honeyblood have a sound that has been described as 'slacker-grunge-garage-rock', but members Stina Tweeddale (vocals/guitar) and Shona McVicar (drums) prefer to call it ‘crunch-pop’. Their sound has drawn comparisons to recent favourites Best Coast and Frankie Rose, along with hints of 90's female guitar heroes the Breeders and Throwing Muses. Since tumbling onto the Glasgow music scene in 2012, the duo have since signed to the FatCat label, home of The Twilight Sad, Frightened Rabbit and We Were Promised Jetpacks. Asked what they hope listeners can take away from Honeyblood's music, the pair simply answer: "For more girls to start playing guitars and drums, sing songs and have fun."
