Who wants to witness and shoot the granddaddy of all Chinese New Year festivals? Come on down to LA Chinatown for one of the grandest and most colorful parades! We will meet at a designated location a couple of hours before the parade, grab some lunch, then stake out a spot along the parade route. Once the parade passes us by, we can stay for other events that will be held to celebrate the incoming year of the Snake!
The parade commences at Hill and Ord Streets and concludes at Broadway and Cesar Chavez). It starts at 1 pm and ends at 3 pm. There will be a lot of other smaller attractions, booths, demos and food stands scattered around the area.
Be ready for large, no, huge crowds. I strongly recommend taking the Metro Gold Line as parking is very difficult and expensive on this occasion. The parade will be held midday so you may want to bring a hat, dress for comfort and wear sun protection. Since this is at least a 2 hour parade, pack light for your own safety and comfort. A zoom lens may be the best solution to capture the events as they quickly unfold.
We can grab a drink and a snack once the festivities and crowds dissipate if anyone is interested. Final meeting location and contact info will be sent to the final list of attendees a few days before the actual event.
