Tues. Turtle Run (new, slow, casual)

The Milwaukee Running Group (MRG) Turtle runs are geared toward new, slower, or casual runners. All runners are welcome at any MRG event, but these runs will ensure you'll have a running partner at your pace.

We will headout from the parking lot of Alterra at the Lake (1701 N Lincoln Memorial Dr) for a jog with the group. Generally, we'll run 2-5 miles at paces from 9:30 - 12:00 minute miles. Post your anticipated distance/pace when you sign up!

I'm stuck at work... I'll plan to meet with the group at the Wednesday run.

I'm on my way down from a work appointment way up north now... if there's any traffic I'm not going to be on time. If someone could lead the way to the oak leaf trail that would be great. I'll be there if I can.

I am heading down now. I'm going to "try" and run in oak leaf for a short time. Not sure with this heat.

Does anyone in the group take a run/walk type of type of approach? I would love to join, but curious on the number of miles and typical pace?

Thanks, Allison. I'll check it out tonight and see how it goes. It wouldn't hurt for me to try jogging more consistently. See you soon!

I think Jennifer just posted a comment about this. Oak leaf trail is shaded. Key is to drink plenty of water.

First time with the group! I typically run slightly faster than 9:30 pace, but I'm working on correcting my form (heel striker). Note: pic is outdated.

The temperature is going to be pretty hot today. Historically, it helps to run on the Oak Leaf trail on hot days since it's more shaded than the lakefront trail. We can still get to it from the normal meeting spot, so we can decide where to run at that time. I'd recommend drinking more water than usual throughout the entire day today, plus slowing down our pace. See you all tonight!
