Mindfulness, Appreciation and Gratitude at Glasgow City Happiness Club

  • Jun 13, 2012 · 7:30 PM

Come along to our Happiness Club, meet some friends old and new in a relaxed atmosphere and share in the positive energy.

Each Happiness Club meeting is different, we share different topics designed to help you improve your happiness levels. We will explore some new interesting ideas from the world of positive psychology, NLP and alternative therapies.  You will get to try out practical exercises, share what works, and create challenges for yourself in a safe and relaxed atmosphere.

The Happiness Club will have a main topic for each meeting that comes from Action for Happiness Ten Keys to Happier Living.

Everyone's path to happiness is different. But reviews of the latest research has found 10 Keys to Happier Living that consistently tend to make people's lives happier and more fulfilling. Together they spell "GREAT DREAM".

We will be having more guest speakers, sharing and learning lots of new ways to increase the amount of happiness in our lives.

This month our main topic is Appreciating -  do you stop and take notice of the world around you?  Being Mindful and practicing Mindfulness is a way is connect with the present moment and be happier.

Come along and try out some Mindfulness - the Happiness Club way.  We will be exploring the research showing why this is good for you and more importantly trying out a variety of methods.

Calming the mind to let go of stress

Looking at the world through new eyes

Living in the moment

Meditation methods

Appreciating what we have or living in a state of gratitiude also increases feelings of wellbeing and happiness.  How do you do it?  Why does it work? Get the gratitude habit and see how this impacts on your life.

Special Guest Speaker - John McPhail.
I am delighted to announce that one of our own members has agreed to share some ideas and insights for this month's meeting.  He will be discussing Mindfulness - Awareness and Attention and Gratitude.

So come along and share the Happy feeling :-)

Great evening, thanks to John for sharing your knowledge and tips on being mindful. Everyone joined in the conversations and gratitude exercises. I hope that those letters have found their way to the person you wanted to thank.
I have found myself focusing on the present moment and being mindful of my thoughts in the past two days and really saw a boost in my mood after a trying day! It's a reminder for me that I need to practice what I preach too. Be mindful of your thoughts today, focus on the moment and let go of past worries or future anxieties. And better still come along and join us next month and see what trying out some new stuff can do. :-)
