These doctors advocate no-oil, no-sugar, and minimally-processed food. Oil-free because all oils (even olive oil) are very high in calories with no nutrients to speak of. All oils are very highly-processed. (Better to eat the olive rather than the olive oil.)
The studies on olive oil are misleading because they compare olive oil to even worser oils. There are no studies comparing olive oil to simply getting your fat from real food that has nutrients in it.
Dr. Esselstyn has done studies showing the harmful effects of olive oil on the endothelial cells of the arteries. Other oils would be even worse on heart health.
