What we're about

This group is for those who have an interest in all things Italian; the culture, the wines, the food, opera, travelling in Italy etc. My aim is to bring people together by sharing information about events, such as conversation groups, Italian films being shown locally, restaurant recommendations etc. so if you know of anything that might be of interest, please send me the details and I can spread the word via my frequent Harrogate Italian Network e-mail newsletters.

My background? I started learning Italian in 2003 as an absolute beginner and continued on, until graduating in 2014 with a degree in Italian and Linguistics from York St. John University. I started to teach Italian privately in 2008, following a request from two ex-classmates who wanted a bit of help with Italian grammar and eventually it became the way in which I was able to fund my uni studies. I still teach Italian privately, so if you or anyone is interested in improving your Italian, or know someone who wants to learn, get in touch.

Upcoming events (5+)

Italian Conversation 1

Bica

This is an informal group for people who would like to spend an hour chatting in Italian. It isn't a class. The level of Italian spoken is fairly high, so it will suit the more confident speaker, regardless of level. The group costs nothing more than a purchase from our genial host, Anna. For the less confident speaker, or beginner, see the Guided Conversation group, which meets at 11:30 at Caffe Lago di Como wef 1st February 2018.

Guided Italian Conversation

Upstairs at Caffe Lago di Como

This is a conversation group for the less-experienced Italian speaker, with guidance from either me or Rosie, when available. Feel free to ask questions about vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar. There may be occasional pre-set topics for discussion, but it is not a lesson, which is why there is no cost to attend the group. However, with respect to the proprietors, please, at least, buy a coffee and/or something to eat. There are times when neither Rosie nor I are available, but we hope you can still enjoy a good hour's chatting in Italian amongst yourselves.
