East Palisades

About The Trail: This is a really easy hike along the east bank of the Chattahoochie, just south of the Sope Creek trail system. In the past, we've done the main trail, including a stopover in the Bamboo Forest for a bite to eat. This time, we'll do the two new trails they've added.

Distance/Skill Level: This is an easy hike with only one hill that takes about two minutes to ascend. Overall pace is good for beginning to intermediate hikers (2 - 2.5 miles per hour). Total distance should be 5-6 miles. Though no special equipment needed, walking poles might be helpful. Re food, since this is such a short hike, we'll make a five-minute stop to grab a bite, otherwise just some water and a snack should suffice.

Where To Meet: Please meet at the lower parking lot at the trailhead next to the bridge. See you there!

Directions: From GA 400, take 285 West, exit at New Northside Drive (this is two or so exits before the exit for 75); take left onto Northside Drive; continue up, then over the hill; at bottom of hill, make a right onto Harris Trail; right onto Whitewater Creek Road; first right at the sign for the park. Drive to parking lot.

This is my favorite MeetUp group! I've been working out on my NordicTrack.... for that I'm glad... needed those leg muscles for that GREAT hill. Enjoyed meeting new friends too. Awesome all the way around - see you at another hike soon!

Hey Guys, It looks like I am going to be stuck at work until 11:00. Sorry, I will have to catch up with you next time- it's a shame because it is going to be a gorgeous day.

It looks like a really gorgeous day out there but I have to agree I don't really look forward to hiking in the mud. I really hate to be a no-show and I think this is my first official no-show but I'll see you guys next time.
