What we're about

There are lots of great social groups around the Triangle, but none of them are centered around Holly Springs. So...I decided to fix that! This group is for anyone interested in socializing with others in and around the Holly Springs area. And of course you don't have to be from Holly Springs to join in on the fun! We have members from Fuquay-Varina, Apex, Garner, Cary, Raleigh, and even Sanford and Fayetteville! Activities include hiking, walking, movies, potluck dinners, kayaking, board game nights, outdoor concerts, weekend trips to the beach and mountains, and anything else members can dream up.

This group is open to...well...everyone! Age, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, relationship status, and where you live aren't important - although if you live in New York or Paris you may want to find a more local group! Although events won't be labeled as such, most events will be kid-friendly and pet-friendly. I have a 19-year-old son and a dog who will be joining us from time to time. If you have a question about whether or not an event is appropriate for your child/pet, simply send me an email and ask!

NOTE: While several people have met their special someone in the group, that is a happy accident and is not the purpose of this group. Sending unsolicited messages to members you don't know will get you banned from the group. I want this group to be a place where everyone feels both safe and welcome!

So what are you waiting for? Join the group and let's get together to explore this fantastic area we live in!

Epic Long Weekend at the Grand Canyon!!!

Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Every time I visit, its beauty never ceases to amaze me. It’s a great place to explore no matter how many people go with you, but I’ve always had the most fun when I’ve visited this wonder of the world with friends. So this time, I’m inviting all of you to go with me!

This adventure will take place in late April of 2023. Here's just a few of the reasons this is a great time to go:

  • There are still plenty of affordable rooms available inside the park. Most of these rooms are also on the rim, meaning you walk out of your door to amazing canyon views!
  • Because we are booking so early, the rooms are super cheap! The room we just booked is on the rim and was just $145 a night! (More details regarding booking a room are provided below.)
  • April is one of the best months to visit the canyon. The temperatures on the rim will most likely be in the low 60s, while the temperature inside the canyon will be in the high 70s to low 80s. This is fantastic hiking weather! (Bonus: NO HUMIDITY!)
  • You will have an awesome guide throughout the trip: ME! The Grand Canyon is my second home...and my playground! I've hiked various routes through the canyon, including leading a large group of teenagers on a tour down into the canyon to Plateau Point. Believe me, we are going to have a great time!

Friday, April 28th

Saturday, April 29th

Sunday, April 30th

You can book now and cancel with NO penalty anytime before Wednesday April 26th, 2023! Also, all lodging in the park is serviced by free bus service.

  • Bright Angel Lodge: $126 to $212 per night; on the rim; some rooms don’t have showers but private showers are available in the building
  • Thunderbird Lodge: $306 to $365 per night; on the rim
  • Kachina Lodge: $306 to $365 per night; on the rim
  • El Tovar: $334 to $527 per night; on the rim
  • Maswik Lodge: $301 to $399 per night, ¼ mile from the rim

  • Yavapai Lodge: $217 to $292 per night; not on the rim but convenient to a lot of places

Lunch at Fat Olives! (featured on the Food Network!)

Flagstaff is a quirky Route 66 town with lots of delicious restaurants. And guess what? Some of the best Italian you will ever have is right here in this town at Fat Olives! And not only that, but this restaurant was featured in the Diner's Drive-In and Dives show on the Food Network! I last ate here in 2021 and the pizza I had compared favorably with the food the pizza I ate in Naples, Italy! It is seriously that good!

Here's a peek at their tasty lunch menu:

Yabba Dabba Doo! Crazy Fun Photo Op at Flintstone's Bedrock City!

Ever wonder what it would be like to wander through the set of a tv show...a CARTOON tv show? Well, guess what? That's exactly what you'll get to do in Flintstone's Bedrock City!

Anyone who's gone on a trip with me knows I love, love, love kitschy roadside attractions! And the Flintstone's Bedrock City is one of the best! They have literally recreated almost every building or area that appears in the Flintstone's tv show for you to explore. We will walk through the entire area, snapping lots of photos along the way. And as an added bonus, this site has been bought out by Raptor Ranch, so we may get to view a live birds of prey demo while we are here!

Note: There is an $8 charge to enter Bedrock City.

First Peek at the Majestic Grand Canyon!

Grand Canyon Visitor Center

Note: This event is part of our “Epic Long Weekend at the Grand Canyon!!!” mega-event! Click here for more information!

After driving the last 30 minutes over relatively flat land, it's always mind-blowing to get your first glimpse of the Canyon. Therefore, my tradition is to get the first view of the Canyon as soon as I enter the park!

This will be a simple but memorable event: We will meet up at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center, then walk over to the rim for our first look at the Canyon! You can stay as long as you want before driving deeper into the park to check into your room.
