This two hour class will be exploring how to push outside of your COMFORT ZONE. Every year we create a goal or a list of things we’d like to accomplish in the New Year but for most of us, we have this little nagging thought in the back of our minds that we won’t be able to follow through with them. How do we become persistent with what we want while at the same balancing it out with our doubts? This class is to help you explore what is within our comfort zone, what is outside of it, and the emotional tool it takes to move past our doubts. We will start with a discussion on our comfort zones then do a 35-minute Deep Breathing Meditation so that you may become aware of the feelings that you have within you to help you push through. Afterwards, we will have a short debrief about your breathing experience.
During the Breathing Session you will lie down on a mat where you will be asked to take deep breaths at a pace set by the guide. It can be a little intense (and will push you out of your comfort zone) so we ask that those who have any serious medical issues or who are pregnant NOT participate. If you cannot do it, you are welcome to follow along the guided meditation with a steady normal breath. We do these breath sessions to have an emotional experience so there is always a chance that an emotion will arise that you were not expecting. We believe it is important to feel your emotions so that you become conscious of your truths and be aware of the things you are holding back. We encourage those that may have this experience to be open to what you feel and allow your emotions to come through whatever they may be. It is important for us at the Internal Work to cultivate a safe, caring, and non-judgmental community so we encourage others to be open to themselves and to those around them. Please allow yourself to feel any discomfort you may feel if someone else is experiencing any emotion intensely and to not disrupt what another may be experiencing. You may hear us say over and over, “Just Feel.”
Please BRING A MAT to lay down on. Since this is a donation-based event we recommend a $20 (cash or Venmo) donation to help cover costs of renting the space.
The studio is in a two-level building (bright teal, with Soma Vida signage on the front), located on the north(left) side of the street when you are driving east from downtown. Mind Body Studio is on the 2nd floor. At the top of the stairs, walk through open Gallery to find the Studio in the North East corner of the building.
