Tasmania here we come! We plan to experience this island to the best of our abilities!!

Participants will be selected based on number of hikes with the Wanderers and when you signed up.

I am leaving on the 23rd of February on Quantas air. I booked with Justfly.com and paid about $1100.
Flight #74 leaving SFO at 8:30 pm connecting in Sydney on flight #1583 at 9pm.
I return on the 10th at 1:30pm flight #5720. It connects in Sydney with flight #73 at 5:55

Detailed itinerary to follow but you can expect and plan on a schedule like this.

25th Hobart accommodation-arrival in mid morning. We pick up our cars (need at least one more driver) and head to Mt. Direction. This is a 4.5 (total mileage) mile jaunt up to a gorgeous viewpoint right before our hotel. It's a climb of 1000ft. This will be enough to shake off the airplane blues and get us breathing deep! We will do some grocery shopping and head to check into our hotel by appx 4pm. Our units have kitchens for the next 4 nights.

26th Hobart accommodation-off to explore the coastal area of Cape Huay complete with a visit to the historic town of Port Arthur. Our first hike is a 6 miles coastal bluff hike with less than a 500 ft climb. We then will do Waterfall bay where we will stop by the Tasman arch and the Devils Kitchen Cauldren along the way doing a few miles on the multiday track. Then we visit Port Arthur and then it's home we head.

27th Hobart-Mt. Wellington! 8 miles 2700 ft. Reported to be the best hike in the area!

28th- Hobart-once again we venture forth for a day of exploration. This time we are headed to Bruny Island for two hikes. One bluff hike along the Fluted cape and then up to a scenic viewpoint. A total of 7 miles and 1500 ft. total. We will be in Fettering to catch the 9am ferry. It will be an early morning.

29th-Bronte- We check out of our hotel that we have enjoyed for 4 nights and head off exploring the sights along the way to Bronte. Along the way we stop at the Mt. Field area where we will hike the Tarn Shelf (6 miles 500 ft) and dance along to Russell Falls. (4 miles 400 ft)

1st-Bronte- We will do Cradle Mountain the highlight of the Overland track. 8 miles 2500 ft.

2nd-Bronte- Dove Lake and gorge Circuits- 10 miles 1500 ft

3rd- Launceston-Another day of exploration...Quamby Bluff and Liffey Falls 10 miles 2000ft.

4th-Launceston-Lady Lake 5 miles 2000 ft with Launceston Cataract Gorge - Twilight, wildlife, local history walking tour at 5:30

5th Launceston- Leisurely guided bike tour including lunch stop. OR Mt. Rowland.

6th Swansea- Ben Lomond 8 miles 1000 ft

7th Swansea- Ralph Falls and Cobbler Rocks 8 miles minimal elevation gain

8th Swansea-Wineglass bay 12 miles

9th Swansea-Maria Island by bike or foot

10th We head home!
My airfare was $1100 and expect to pay appx $100 a night for twin accommodations. The rental car will be about $250 plus gas.
