IBG Meetup - Lazy Sunday Afternoon - The Emperors' New Clothes

Hi All,

We are going to start up our Lazy Sunday Afternoon Meetups again as in past years.

Many of you that are now regulars have joined us since we last had these, so it would be great to have you all come along and listen to your book related grumbles and gripes.

The format of the meetup is usually as follows:

2:30 - 2:45 - arrive and order lunch

2:45 - 3:00 - discuss the weekend's book reviews ( I even allow you to bring Murdoch papers )

3:00 - 3:30 - eat lunch

3:30 - the end - discuss the theme of the meetup

This first return to our Sunday meetups will be to discuss authors or books that despite literary accolades we cannot tolerate/ understand.

Books that we believe that were it not for skillful marketing and the "celebrity" or "myth" of the author would not have been published.

We have had a lot of fun in the past expressing our disbelief and sharing opposing opinions.

Past candidates are Martin Amis and Murakami. This meetup will only be open to members that have been to at least one meetup. First timers will not be able to come along as it is intended as a social but book related way for existing members to get to know each other.

See you then,

Sorry you can't make it. Hope you can make the next one. By the way, The Emperors New Clothes is the theme of the discussion, not the book to be discussed. Please read the meetup write up for more info :-)

The Emperors New Clothes is the name of the children's book as well as the theme of the meetup. Please read the meetup description for clarity on why the meetup is called this. Let me know if you are still unclear
